Senior Choir Director

Esther Madsen

Director

We welcome Esther as the Director for the Senior Choir. Esther has been involved in the music profession for over forty years. She has been conducting church choirs or accompanying choirs for almost as long with the exception of the last seven years where she was president of the Sherwood Park Music Festival Association. When living in Ontario she was the church organist and choral director for an Anglican church in Burlington for four years. Esther’s involvement in Sherwood Park’s community has been through various church and school choirs. She studied choral directing with Bruce Wheatcroft at the University of Alberta and has workshopped with many composers, arrangers and directors.

Esther has taught piano and theory lessons placing students in both Conservatory Canada and the Royal Conservatory examination boards. Students also enjoy lessons without examination preparations. She achieved her Associate level in piano with the Western Board Conservatory, now a part of Conservatory Canada.

She has also been involved in praise bands both on keyboards and vocals. She has accompanied vocal soloists, instrumentalists and choirs for over thirty years.
